Introduction

The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CROC) was an important milestone for children everywhere. It recognised that children and young people are not only entitled to the same human rights as everyone else, but that because of their youth, they needed extra protection.

CROC has now been endorsed by more than 190 countries worldwide. It has received more support than any other human rights convention in the history of the United Nations.

This Information Sheet provides basic information about CROC, how it was developed and how children benefit from it.
