The NGO Reporting Process has begun.

The Child Rights Taskforce, convened by UNICEF Australia and the National Children's and Youth Law Centre, has recently begun the NGO Reporting Process for the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child and is calling for submission from Australian NGOs.

The issues, ideas and recommendations that are included in the NGO Report will be considered by the UN Committee when it assesses Australia's performance under CROC in early 2012.

Through your work with children, we are hoping that you have information that will assist us in preparing the report, and in ensuring that the report reflects the views of Australian NGO's as accurately as possible. Specifically, we need:

  • reports, evidence or other documents;
  • case studies;
  • follow-up questions that the UN Committee can ask the Government; and
  • recommendations for action by the Australian Government.

Timeline and other information

All submissions are required by 17 December 2010.

As a starting point for thinking about the issues please see the Concluding Observations made by the UN Committee following Australia's last review in 2005.

Further background information on the reporting process and how you can be a part of it can be found here.

Updates and information will be posted here as it becomes available.
